As you may or may not know, Louis Vuitton has a history in making luggage. In 1930, the Keepall was introduced by Gaston Vuitton as the moderately sized weekender bag of Louis Vuitton to accommodate the shifting travel habits of people at the time. The Keepall is the spirit of modern travel: light, flexible and always ready for a immediate departure. Being the unisex bag that's great as a carry-on for every trip, it got iconic straight away. The Keepall is the all-time favorite for many celebrities and influencers. Celebrities are very often spotted with a Keepall on their wrist while traveling.

The design of the bag
The bag is available in four different sizes: 45, 50, 55 and 60. These numbers indicate the width of the Keepall in centimeters. The first three sizes are perfect for hand luggage on the plane. The Keepall 60 is not allowed as a carry-on on the plane, because it simply is too big. We would recommend going for a Keepall 60 if you'll primarily use it for road trips. Next to the different sizes, the Keepall comes with or without a Bandoulière: a shoulder strap. A Keepall with Bandoulière will have an extra vertical leather strap attached on the side of the bag, to strengthen the bag. We would recommend to always go for a Keepall with Bandoulière, as you can easily detach the shoulder strap at any time.

Besides the different sizes, the Keepall comes in different colours and materials. The assortment holds the Monogram canvas with Vachetta leather, which is the most classic option, the Monogram Macassar Keepall, which has black coated leather finishing, the Damier Ebene Keepall with brown coated leather finishing, the Damier Azur Keepall with vachetta leather, various colors op Epi leathers and many, many limited editions. Think of collaborations with Supreme, Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murikami.

Louis Vuitton Keepalls come with a luggage tag, padlock and handle buckle. However, don't be surprised if your vintage Keepall doesn't include these any longer, as we all tend to loose something along the way, especially when traveling.
On the vintage market, you will see a lot of Keepalls dating around the 1980s and 1990s. The Louis Vuitton Keepall is proven to be durable and well made. The aging will show on the Vachetta leather, which will get water marks and patina, which is the coloration process of this unprocessed leather.
All in all, the Louis Vuitton Keepall can be described as very handy, but above all: very stylish.
