Chanel's impressive Spring / Summer 2021 fashion show

The French house travels to the old Hollywood of the 50's for its latest runway

The last day of Paris Fashion Week was an ode to happiness. When most fashion shows were canceled or virtually presented, Chanel  showcased its Ready-To-Wear Spring / Summer 2021 in a beautiful location: under the magical nave of the Grand Palais. On a gloomy and rainy Parisian Tuesday morning, the show was a pure moment of beauty. At the end of the presentation, the sun came through the vast glass of the roof. Read more about it in our blog and you will fall in love with every look.

On February 12, former French Minister of Culture Françoise Nyssen announced the ambitious project to restore the Grand Palais in Paris, which will take at least three years of work. The Grand Palais was built for the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900 and needs to be renovated today to maintain its majesty while adding further appeal. Chanel is the sole private sponsor of this colossal project. For Chanel, this historic and incredible landmark has been part of the home's history since Karl Lagerfeld presented his first fashion show there in 2006. This season, Chanel explores a new facet of the house. Virginie Viard celebrated the cinema from the Nouvelle Vague, Italian cinema and Hollywood.

Logos and trademarks are accented in this Ready To Wear collection from Spring / Summer 2021. An ode to the eighties and the golden eccentricity of Karl Lagerfeld. Number 5 is the bullseye number on neon light logo t-shirts and light dresses. The double C logo was the crown on a tiara and silver letters spelled out Chanel on illuminated jackets. Mixed with skirts above the knee, black high-waisted bermuda shorts, light pink capri pants and pleated jeans in fluorescent pink and green colors. Layers with graphic asymmetry. After that, black and white won the upper hand in the collection. The characteristic ecru and black tweeds suits are being revisited. The CC ribbon finish was absolutely stunning. The Chanel jacket has been reinterpreted as elegantly as a short tweed dress.

Long dresses printed with small flowers in black and white or in an ultra-fine tweed accentuate the collection. At the feet, black with gold slingbacks and chic black leather high heels. Around the neck, the characteristic 2.55 quilted Chanel chain bag was worn like a gold pendant. In addition, we see refined pearl necklaces and the Chanel forever necklace in abundance. Virginie Viard has definitely designed a very feminine collection for all types of women. Modernity, youthfulness, lightness and elegance.
