The Louis Vuitton product that has been around the longest
It may not immediately occur to you, but Mr. Louis Vuitton started the brand we all love with suitcases. These cases are still loved by many today, which of course we can fully understand. It exudes elegance, an air of hidden wealth and a patina that cannot be bought.
The history of these beloved suitcases
The well-known fashion label Louis Vuitton has its origins in Paris. Here the young Vuitton was trained by Monsieur Marechal, a well-known suitcase and bag manufacturer. The Parisian elite clearly loved Vuitton's suitcases. Even the French Empress Eugenie de Montijo, wife of Napoleon III, was impressed and in 1853 appointed Vuitton her personal suitcase maker. A year later, Vuitton had its own luggage store.
The key to the great success of the suitcases
Previously, all suitcases had a curved closing flap. Vuitton thought a rectangular suitcase would make traveling much easier. The suitcases could now be stacked on top of each other. This wasn't the only thing he changed about the suitcases. He also changed the material from leather to canvas. This made the cases stronger and waterproof. The skeleton of the suitcase was made of wood and made the suitcases very light.
The famous Louis Vuitton Monogram print
At one point, Georges Vuitton, son of Louis Vuitton, came up with an invention that we are very grateful for. This is the legendary Monogram print: the letters L and V interlocking against a dark brown background. The monogram was introduced in 1896 and has been a hit ever since. The whole world instantly recognizes the Louis Vuitton Monogram print.
Louis Vuitton suitcases are still the most famous suitcases to travel with. Seen by many celebrities Audrey Hepburn, The Duchess of Sussex, Rihanna, Bella Hadid. Everyone prefers to travel in style with a Louis Vuitton suitcase.
After Marc Jacobs became creative director at Louis Vuitton, he had several artists and designers make their own creations on the well-known monogram design. This led to a rich variety of prints, including cherries and graffiti. You will surely find a unique suitcase that suits you!
In addition to the constant flow of new models and designs, the previous ones remain available. Such orders take about ten months. Each case is made by hand in the company's own workshop in France. The suitcase is then sold with a matching price. You can probably imagine that these suitcases sell for a considerable amount. Fortunately, there are plenty of wonderful second-hand options. These suitcases are fashionable, durable and and more affordable. What else do you want?
