As a fashion fanatic, I vividly remember when the Dior saddle bag made its runway debut. The iconic bag was introduced to the world under John Galliano’s direction back in 1999 and quickly rose to prominence after being seen on the arms of various ‘It’ girls. But it wasn’t until fashion icon Carrie Bradshaw wore numerous variations on SATC, that the saddle bag became the ultimate statement bag of the 2000s. The bag quickly morphed from a “hot item” into a Dior classic – a staple that every fashionista coveted, and needed to have in their closet.
This fashion season the 2000s are back and ready for a re-do. Of course Dior can’t miss out on the action and finally returned the iconic saddle bag. In March 2018, the reincarnated-version was previewed on the Fall-Winter ‘18 runway under the helm of Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri. "I thought this collection would be an opportunity to revive its timeless beauty," Grazia stated in a press release. "I consider this icon of the house's recent history the perfect accessory to deal with the battle that is daily life.”
Since we can not miss out on the latest trends, there will be vintage Dior saddle bags available online and in our stores soon. Stay tuned, because you don’t want to miss this ‘It’ bag!
