Queen Elizabeth: Always Loyal To Launer Bags

The Queen’s love for Launer handbags.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was Queen of the United Kingdom and other realms from February 6, 1952, until her death on September 8, 2022. She was one of the most recognizable women in the world and had 70 years of loyalty to the throne. She wasn’t often seen in public without an iconic handbag. So, what was in the queen's iconic handbag and what brand was she wearing?

What was in the queen’s bag?

Despite what many people might think, Queen Elizabeth II wore the same items as the rest of us. Like most women, the queen's handbag is believed to contain many daily items that she couldn’t live without. For instance, the Queen was said to carry reading glasses, mints, a pen, a small mirror and lipstick, which she often reapplied in public during her reign.

Sally Biddle, author of Queen Elizabeth: The Woman Behind the Throne, has claimed that the Queen's purse also included a portable hook. The hook effectively allowed the queen to hang her handbag under the table, very handy right?

What brand did the Queen wear?

The queen was always associated with colors, since she often wore bright outfits. Besides a colorful skirt and jacket, a matching hat and gloves, the Queen never went outside without her iconic black Launer London bags.

Queen Elizabeth II started wearing their bags during the 60s, but it was in the 70s when she truly devoted her love for the British designer brand. Despite her bright attire, she mostly kept their bags simple, going for a classic black or white patent leather bag.

Rumor even says that she owned about 200 pieces of the same kind of bag! Here at Etoile we can completely relate to her, who wouldn’t want to have 200 pieces of their favorite designer bag?

But her history with the brand goes way back, when her mother gifted her her first Launer bag in the 1950s, and it seems she hasn't stopped carrying their handbags sinceSo, Queen Elizabeth II  wasn’t only loyal to her throne and country, but also to her beloved Launer bag.

Unfortunately, we don’t have pre-loved Launer bags in our collection, but we found one that is quite similar!
