The vintage closet of Vivian Hoorn

We are so excited to tell you that in this week’s blog, we can give you a unique insight in the closet of Vivian Hoorn! She really is the perfect example of a power woman. She is a successful photographer, model, stylist and influencer with over 460.000 followers on her instagram (@vivianhoorn) Many women will be jealous of her wardrobe. She owns a lot vintage items and if she buys something new, she always chooses for items that are high quality. We asked her everything about her closet and her vintage items, so enjoy reading!

What do you think of the concept of buying and selling vintage designer items?

"Currently, almost everything I buy is vintage. If not, I choose to buy items of a very high quality. I try to make more careful choices when I think of buying an item. I think about whether it's an item that I would wear a lot and if it’s an item that remains pretty overtime."

What is the reason you buy vintage designer items? And do you also buy new designer items?

"Actually, I never buy new designer items. That’s mainly because I simply love everything that is vintage, but I also don’t like the prices of new items, haha!"

How did you get in touch with us?

"Hmm, tough question… haha. I don’t really know to be honest. We go waaaaay back!"

Who is your favorite designer ever? 

"Chanel for sure. I do also really love Jacquemus." 

What was your first ever designer bag?

"That was a Gucci Velvet bag, I think you have it in store! I bought it from the money I earned with my first big photography job."

Do you own a bag which you are really proud of? 

"For my birthday, a dear friend of mine gifted me a Jacquemus bag which I am extremely happy with." 

What is your absolute dream bag?

"My absolute dream bag is the Hermès Kelly bag. I love the classic black ones, in the biggest size. But they are so so pricy…"

Where do you buy your vintage (designer) items?

"My favorite places to buy my vintage treasures are: levintagelevintage, Vestiaire Collective and of course l'Étoile Luxury Vintage."

Do you like the classic models or more exclusivity when we talk about bags? 

"I definitely go for the classic models. Always." 

Which bag is really worth the investment?

"A vintage Chanel 2.55 Medium Classic Flap Bag, obviously."

What is the best, cheapest or most unique vintage designer item you ever bought?

"I own a very very special Chanel bag. The bag is made of a very soft fabric, so it does look like a “wolkentoetje” (Dutch dessert). I think the bag is very unique, because I have never seen it on someone else."

Have you ever resold a designer vintage item? 

"No, I haven’t. And that’s because I find it really hard to sell my vintage designer items. I think every bag kind of has its own story, so because of that I could never sell it. I will just wait until they are trending again."

What would you advise other people to consider when buying a vintage designer bag? 

"I would say: Only buy a bag at a special occasion or if you have something to celebrate. In this way, you make your purchase extra special and the bag immediately tells a story."   

In conclusion: Vivian absolutely loves to buy vintage. She is fan of the classic models, but also loves it to own an item that nobody else owns. In Vivian’s opinion every bag has its own story. To stick to that opinion, she gives the advice to only buy a vintage designer bag at a special occasion.
