With Paris Fashion Week wrapping up on the 7th of October, the trends of Spring Summer 2026 are officially known. Bright, primary colours translate the optimism seen in several collections, with a noticeable focus on materials like crochet and fringe. Read all about the trends we picked up on.
Paris and her four standing ovations
To say that Paris Fashion Week was a success would be an understatement, the four standing ovations speaking for itself. Paris Fashion Week was highly anticipated this season, with nine major creative director debuts. Dior, Chanel, Mugler, Jean Paul Gaultier and Balenciaga are only some of them. Voluminous skirts and dresses, playful dress shirts, fringe and feathers and bright primary colours were trends that kept coming back in the different collections.
Louis Vuitton did not let us down with their bag collection for SS 2026. The classic Speedy was a huge feature on the runway in lots of fun different styles. Re-imagined Dopp Kit Pouches and bucket bags were spotted a lot in the Louis Vuitton show, also in different styles.

Saint Laurent is cooler than winter in Amsterdam
The Saint Laurent show has been the talk of the town for every fashion lover. With white hydrangeas spelling out YSL around the runway, it’s safe to say people had high expectations for this fashion show. Anthony Vaccerelo, creative director of the brand since 2016, has taken these expectations utmost seriously and delivered a beautiful collection. Leather is making a huge comeback right now and this show was the perfect representation of that trend. Playful leather jackets, trench coats and skirts were a huge feature in the show, along with colourful mesh materials radiating sexiness with elegance.

Bag trends that we spotted
Of course, we were more than excited about what bag trends we would see in SS26. Now, let us show you what we caught up on. Because it’s Spring/Summer, wicker was spotted a lot on the runways. The material gives bags an airy, breathable, beach bag vibe which is ideal for the spring and summer time. Brands like Dior, Fendi, Ferragamo and more added wicker bags to their collections. Square totes were also spotted on the runways. They’re the perfect size to fit everything. Good to use for school, work or even going out if you need a lot of stuff. Two other styles that were incorporated in several brands collections were square totes and utilitarian bags. Both of these are perfect for storing a lot of stuff for work, school and more. Some brands that featured these were Miu Miu, Prada, Acne Studios and Loewe.

Final thoughts
So, we can conclude that colour, playfulness and edginess played a huge role in these past fashion shows. You can see that designers really thought out of the box and had fun with some daring designs, fabrics and colours.
