Jonathan William Anderson, known for his own label JW Anderson and his work at LOEWE, has now taken a new path this time as the creative director at Christian Dior.
Career
Jonathan has come a long way before arriving at Dior. He began his career as a visual merchandiser at Prada. However, after a short time, he decided in 2008 to follow his own path and launched JW Anderson. His first collection received critical acclaim, which led him to present his first runway collection at London Fashion Week in 2010. In 2013, Donatella Versace invited him to replace Christopher Kane for Versace’s diffusion line, Versus. Later that year, he introduced his first collection in New York.
But that wasn’t the end. In 2013, Jonathan Anderson became the new creative director of the Spanish luxury house LOEWE. Meanwhile, he continued designing collections for both LOEWE and his own brand, JW Anderson. After 11 years at LOEWE, he stepped down from his role as creative director in March 2025.

Dior
Just one month after the news broke that Jonathan would be leaving LOEWE, Vogue announced that he would become the new creative director of Dior Menswear. He is succeeding Kim Jones, who left Dior in January. In June, it was revealed that Jonathan would not only take over the menswear line but also Dior’s womenswear and haute couture collections. This is a huge undertaking, that has only been done before by Christian Dior himself, as he is expected to release more than 10 collections for Dior each year. And that’s not even counting the six collections he continues to design for JW Anderson. Anderson is very excited about this step in his career "I have always been inspired by the rich history of this House, it's depth, and empathy," he said in an Instagram post. "I look forward to working alongside its legendary Ateliers to craft the next chapter of this incredible story.".

There’s particular anticipation for his debut haute couture collection, as it will be his very first in this category. However, no one is doubting his creative abilities. Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, described him as one of the most creative minds of his generation. We are all eagerly and curiously waiting for his haute couture debut for Dior, which will be unveiled coming June.
Lots of love,
Eline
