Origin of the Amazon crossbody bag

We are not completely sure when exactly the bag was first made, but in our shops, we previously had Amazon bags with Louis Vuitton date codes dated back to as far as 1988. We do know that Louis Vuitton loves to name their bags after great cities or natural elements. They did this as well with the Amazon. This simple, and functional bag was named after the Amazonian rainforest. One of the biggest rainforests on earth, located on the continent of South America.

Design

The Louis Vuitton Amazon looks quite similar to another Louis Vuitton crossbody bag called the Louis Vuitton Danube. Both of these bags are likely inspired by the old-fashioned camera cases. The Amazon has a rectangular shape and has two compartments, both accessible through a zipper closure. All of the insides are made of leather, and the bigger compartment has its own small slip-in pocket. The strap of the bag is long, but can be adjusted with a buckle. It also comes with a small leather pad, which makes the strap more comfortable to wear.

Sizes

The Louis Vuitton Amazon sizes available are the PM, MM, and GM. The medium and large sizes are identical in design, while the small, or mini Amazon has some differences. There are two main differences on the outside of the bag. First, the base of the strap isn’t placed on the sides. Instead the strap starts at the back, and ends in the front. Second, there aren’t any extra decorative pieces of leather on the outside, so the entire front is made from canvas. The inside of the smallest version also is slightly different. It’s still completely made of leather, however, there are no additional pockets in any of the compartments.
